As Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) takes the place of its predecessor, many players may want to bring over their custom CS configurations to maintain their familiar gameplay experience. Thankfully, you can easily import your CSconfig into CS2 by following a few straightforward steps. This guide will walk you through the process, ensuring that you can continue playing with the settings you're accustomed to.

Step 1: Locate Your CS

Config File

The first step is to find the config file that you've been using in CS. This file contains all your personalized settings, such as keybindings, crosshair settings, and sensitivity. Here's how to locate it:

  1. Open File Explorer on your computer.

  2. Navigate to the following directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YourSteamID3\730\local\cfg

  3. In this folder, you'll find a file named config.cfg. This is your CS config file.

Step 2: Copy the Config File

Once you've located the config.cfg file, you'll need to copy it so that you can transfer it to the CS2 folder.

  1. Right-click on the config.cfg file.

  2. Select "Copy" from the context menu.

Step 3: Paste the Config File into the CS2 Directory

Next, you'll need to paste your copied config file into the CS2 directory. This allows the game to use your customized settings.

  1. Navigate to the following directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg

  2. Right-click within the folder and select "Paste" to place your config.cfg file here.

Step 4: Launch CS2

With your config file now in the correct location, it's time to launch CS2.

  1. Open Steam and start Counter-Strike 2.

Step 5: Open the Developer Console

To activate your custom config, you need to access the developer console within CS2.

  1. Once CS2 is open, press the ~ key (usually found below the Esc key on your keyboard) to open the console.
Note: If the console does not open, ensure it's enabled by navigating to Settings > Game > Enable Developer Console (~). Set this option to "Yes".

Step 6: Execute Your Config File

Now that the console is open, you can execute your CS config in CS2.

  1. In the console, type exec yourconfigname (replace yourconfigname with the actual name of your config file, usually config.cfg if you haven't renamed it).

  2. Press Enter.

Step 7: Start Playing with Your Imported Settings

And that's it! You've successfully imported your CS config into CS2. You can now enjoy playing CS2 with the settings and configurations you're used to from CS.

This method ensures a smooth transition between the two games, allowing you to maintain the consistency of your settings as you adapt to the new gameplay environment in CS2.
