Premier Season 5 Has Begun

Premier Season 5 is officially live. The biggest competitive change is the return of Cache, replacing Overpass in the Active Duty map pool. Cache has long been one of the most beloved maps in Counter-Strike history, and its return is expected to significantly change the competitive meta throughout the new season.
Cache Replaces Overpass

With the launch of Season 5:
Cache joins the Active Duty map pool.
Overpass leaves the competitive rotation.
Valve also made several collision improvements to Cache following its return.
Five New Community Maps

Community content received a major refresh.
Added to Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch
Boulder
Fachwerk
Shelter
Added to Wingman
Debris
El Dorado
At the same time, Valve removed several older community maps from all official game modes:
Warden
Stronghold
Alpine
Sanctum
Armory Rotation

The Armory has received one of its largest content updates since launch.
New Weapon Collections
Valve added two brand-new collections created through the latest Call to Arms Workshop event:

One particularly interesting change is that each collection now contains two Covert (red) skins, doubling the number of top-tier rewards compared to previous Armory collections.
New Sticker Collections
Two new sticker collections have also been added:

Meanwhile, the following collections have been removed from the Armory:
Weapon Collections
Sticker Collections
For collectors and investors, these rotations are especially important since discontinued collections become unavailable through the Armory, making existing supply increasingly limited over time.
Bomb Explosion Mechanics Have Been Reworked
Valve completely redesigned how C4 explosions work.
The update introduces several major changes:
Explosion damage through walls has been reduced.
A visible blast wave now expands outward from the bomb instead of damage being applied instantly.
Players now see a health indicator showing exactly how much damage the explosion will cause.
Surviving a bomb explosion with only 1 HP is no longer possible.
Perhaps the most significant technical improvement is that explosion damage is now calculated using precomputed simulation data built directly into each compiled map, resulting in more consistent and realistic blast behavior. These changes should make post-plant situations easier to understand while improving gameplay consistency.
Performance Improvements
One of the community's most requested fixes has finally arrived. Opening the scoreboard no longer causes major FPS drops, making it much smoother to check player statistics during matches. Valve also fixed an issue where weapons purchased through the buy menu could occasionally fail to appear in a player's inventory.
Sticker Crafting Improvements

Sticker enthusiasts received a welcome quality-of-life upgrade. Sticker rotation precision has increased from one-degree increments to 0.5°, allowing much more accurate sticker placement and making high-end crafts easier to perfect.
Workshop Improvements
Valve also updated the Workshop tools for skin creators.
The Custom Paint Job Extended system now supports:
custom overlay mask textures;
separate randomized UV mapping for masks and base textures (albedo).
Although these changes won't directly affect players today, they give Workshop artists significantly more creative freedom and could lead to more advanced weapon finishes in future collections.
Official Map Fixes
Several official maps also received bug fixes.
Cache
Various collision improvements.
Dust II
Fixed the Outside Tunnel pixel gap.
Improved collision around Outside Tunnel.
Inferno
Fixed the Top Mid pixel boost.
Fixed material rendering issues where certain blended textures disappeared when viewed up close.
Other Changes
Additional improvements include:
Reduced scoreboard-related performance impact.
Improved material blending consistency.
Various gameplay stability fixes.
Updated the game to the latest Source 2 engine version.
Final Thoughts
Premier Season 5 delivers far more than a simple seasonal reset. Between Cache's return, the refreshed Armory, new community maps, updated bomb mechanics, Workshop improvements, better performance, and numerous quality-of-life fixes, this is one of the most comprehensive Counter-Strike 2 updates in recent memory. Whether you're a competitive player, collector, trader, or long-term investor, this update introduces changes that are worth paying close attention to in the weeks ahead.
