Counter-Strike 2's First Anniversary: A Year of Record-Breaking Performances

As Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) approaches its first anniversary, we're taking a look at the remarkable records set during its inaugural year. From marathon matches to standout individual performances, CS2 has already produced some impressive statistics.

The Longest Map in CS2

The record for the longest map in CS2 was set during a thrilling match between M80 and Fnatic at the ESL Pro League Season 20 LAN tournament. The teams battled it out on Anubis for an astounding 71 rounds, with M80 eventually securing a 37:34 victory. To put this into perspective, another full match between MOUZ and Imperial concluded while this marathon was still ongoing.

Most Kills in Regulation Time

While extended matches often lead to high kill counts, it's the performance within regulation time (first 24 rounds) that truly impresses. The current record holder is poiii, a young Swedish talent playing for EYEBALLERS, who achieved 39 frags against Zero Tenacity in an online match. The previous record of 38 frags was set by donk against Wildcard during a LAN event at ESL Pro League S20.

Largest Tournament Prize Pool

The PGL Major Copenhagen takes the crown for the largest prize pool in a single CS2 tournament, offering a substantial $1,250,000. Following closely is the Esports World Cup, which featured a $1,050,000 prize pool.

Highest Earning Players

The core members of FaZe Clan - karrigan, broky, ropz, and rain - currently hold the top spots for individual earnings in CS2. Each player has earned approximately $316,000 over the past year. Interestingly, the Natus Vincere team, despite winning the record-breaking PGL Major Copenhagen, ranks only 10th-14th in individual earnings.

Most Maps and Rounds Played

The Tier 2 scene has produced some incredible statistics in terms of gameplay volume. Four players from Zero Tenacity - brutmonster, simke, Cjoffo, and aVN - share the record for most maps played, each logging an impressive 437 maps in the past year. This translates to more than one map played per day! Collectively, they've competed in a record-breaking 9,625 rounds.

Most Kills in Official Matches

In terms of absolute numbers, nEMANHA from Zero Tenacity leads the pack with 7,058 kills over 435 maps. However, when considering kills per round, donk emerges as the clear frontrunner with an outstanding 0.94 kills per round. His closest competitors, smooya and malbsMd, trail behind with 0.8 kills per round.

Highest Average Match Rating

Once again, donk showcases his exceptional skill with the highest average match rating of 1.41. This puts him significantly ahead of his nearest rivals, smooya and malbsMd, who both hold an average rating of 1.25.

CS2's first year has been filled with exciting competitions and impressive individual and team performances. As the game continues to evolve, we can expect these records to be challenged and new benchmarks to be set. The CS2 competitive scene remains as thrilling as ever, promising more spectacular moments in the years to come.
